The Spoil Me Royal Project
At Forever BeaYOUtiful we believe that every girl deserves to feel like royalty on her graduation day. We strive for them to complete high school with confidence, enter a new chapter in life with fierce ambition, and most importantly feel beautiful- inside and out. Unfortunately many young girls living across the lower mainland are unable to afford the expenses of graduation due to financial struggles. This is where the Spoil Me Royal project turns a young girl’s dream day, into reality. The Spoil Me Royal project gives a girl the ultimate prom experience, celebrating a special individual’s accomplishments and success. 100% of the projects funding goes towards creating this special day.
Why turn back for the glass slipper, when you can run barefoot towards your own fairy tale ending.
Meet Halley- Spoil Me Royal’s 2015 Prom Dress Awarded Graduate!
How do you feel to be honoured as the Spoil Me Royal chosen graduate?
When I met Taylor and Jordan for the first time I was in awe. They are a prime example of what the Spoil Me Royal project represents. I felt truly honoured and a little taken back. I know there are so many other girls who would have loved this opportunity. So I felt blessed and I wanted to use this to help other girls in the future.
What are some struggles you have been through? Tell us your story?
Growing up it seemed as if my way of life was very different from those around me. At times I felt like I had to work harder for things that other just simply received. It didn’t take me long to realize that everybody struggles with something though. I don’t think focusing on my struggles is important. Every individual has gone through something and maybe I did have it a bit harder but I never looked at it as a disadvantage. Every struggle I overcame shaped my character and gave me a different type of insight on life. I’m proud of all of the struggles because it pushed me to work harder and think deeper.
Describe the moment when you found the dress and it was purchased for you?
To be honest, there was a lot of relief! All of my friends had already found there dresses and I was going into a panic! Jordan and the team helped me so much by being patient and reassuring me that we would find “the dress.” When we did, I was overjoyed. It was hard imagining myself in the dress on the day of prom but I knew all the pieces would come together.
Who is your inspiration?
My mother has been my hero and my inspiration my entire life. Her life has been an endless battle of overcoming obstacles. From coming to a new country, learning a new language, raising a family on her own and getting involved with all aspects of her children’s lives. She has always compromised what she has wanted in order to give her children what they desired. She has always stood back from the light so she could watch us shine. She pushes me to go the extra mile and be the best version of myself possible. Her belief in me has fuelled me to always give everything 100%. I don’t know who I would be or where I would be without her. She is the definition of a superhero.
You maintain a steady job during school to pay for your necessities, and still get superb marks in school. How was this experience for you?
Going to school and working was a very interesting experience. Like I talked about above, the balance was crucial and I struggled a lot. However, it was probably the best thing for me. I learned a lot about people and the “real world.” It taught me many valuable lessons that school alone could not teach. I got to interact with people from all walks of life and I began to open my eyes and realize how big the world is beyond high school.
What is some advice you want to give other young girls in the world?
Being a teenage girl in our society today has so many difficult challenges. There is so much expected out of you and everybody wants you to rise to their expectations. It’s important to stay true to your morals and values. At the end of the day, make sure you are making all of your decisions because they align with your vision of the future. Never compromise for something simply because it’s comfortable. I have learned that great things are achieved when you go against the odds and step out of your comfort zone. Always surround yourself with people who want the best for you! Life is so much more enjoyable when you are surrounded by amazing people.
What would you say to future girls awarded this project?
Soak in every moment and engulf yourself in the happiness. I know each girl who will be awarded with this project in the future will represent strength and accomplishment. Don’t be scared to share that! Make your experience have meaning. I know all of you ladies are going to have a magnificent experience.
